Semar team Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) re-enter the competition energy efficient vehicles Shell eco-marathon Asia 2013. This year the competition was held at the Sepang International Circuit, Malaysia on July 4 to 7 2013.
In
this competition Semar UGM team will follow two categories namely the
Urban Concept category and diesel fuel with category Car Prototype
Gasoline fuel. Number of team members as much as 14 students and one supervisor is Dr. Jayan Sentanuhady.
"Both
cars are designed and developed with a monocoque body construction that
uses a carbon fiber composite material," said Jayan when saying
farewell to Rector Prof. Dr. Pratikno at GMU Center in Bulaksumur
office, Monday (06/03/2013).
He said the materials will lighten and improve precision. Almost all components are made of aluminum and processed by CNC machines. Component was also developed with a modular system to facilitate replacement or repair components.
Chairman
Semar UGM Team Manager, General Prasetya Semar also add cars using PSS
technology (Pedal Steering System), which control the car but no longer
use the hand using a foot pedal.
This
is to improve ergonomics as broad view, the position of the rider's
body and akseabilitas out a better rider in a very narrow space
vehicles.
According
to the Court, this car also uses primary mover gasoline fuel capacity
of 80 cc and a high compression ratio with the SEC design code 1 (Semar
Engine Concept - First Generation). SEC 1 engine with sequential techniques namely two double spark plugs popped in sequence.
"With
this technique combustion in the cylinder becomes more perfect so that
the fuel-efficient and environmentally friendly," he said.
Further
car while Semar Urban Supreme, using the diesel engine capacity of 220
cc are adopting technology called Near Adiabatic Diesel Engine (Nade). The system uses a high compression ratio and cylinder insulation system for increased thermal efficienc
